What is BUMS?

Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) is an undergraduate medical degree program that focuses on traditional Unani treatments. It takes 5.5 years to complete, with 4.5 years of main course classes and a one-year internship.

The Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), which is a statutory body under the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH), regulates the education and training of BUMS in India.

To be eligible for the program, students must have completed their 10+2 exams from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as their major subjects and at least 50% marks.

BUMS Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must be at least 17 years old as of December 31 of the application year.

• Candidates must have studied Urdu/Arab/Persi language at their secondary level.

• Aspirants must have completed their high secondary education from a recognized board or institution.

• They should have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in their 10+2 level.

• For reserved category candidates, a minimum of 40% aggregate marks is required.

• It is mandatory to have studied English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Mathematics as core subjects.

• Applicants must qualify for entrance exams like NEET UG and OJEE conducted at national and state levels to be eligible for admission to BUMS courses.
