What is BUMS?
Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) is an undergraduate medical degree program that focuses on traditional Unani treatments. It takes 5.5 years to complete, with 4.5 years of main course classes and a one-year internship.
The Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM), which is a statutory body under the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH), regulates the education and training of BUMS in India.
To be eligible for the program, students must have completed their 10+2 exams from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as their major subjects and at least 50% marks.
Admission to the course is granted based on entrance exam scores like NEET, and CPAT in some top colleges, and eligibility may vary depending on the college.
